Planning Your Wedding Day & Timeline
Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life – and it deserves to be enjoyed, not rushed. A well-thought-out timeline is the secret to a smooth, stress-free day. With the right planning, you’ll have enough time for each part of your celebration while still being able to soak up all the love and joy around you.
Here’s my guide to creating a wedding day timeline that works.
⸻
Why a Timeline Matters
Without a clear plan, the day can feel rushed or scattered. A timeline ensures:
• Everyone knows where they need to be (and when).
• You don’t feel stressed or pressured.
• Your photography coverage captures everything that’s important to you.

Things to Consider When Planning
✨ Ceremony Start Time
Work backwards from here. Everything before (getting ready, first look, bridal party portraits) needs to fit comfortably before your ceremony.
✨ Travel Time
Factor in how long it takes to move between locations – hair & makeup, ceremony, photos, and reception.
✨ Lighting
Golden hour (the hour before sunset) gives the most magical photos. If you can, plan your couple portraits for this time.
✨ Buffer Time
Weddings almost never run to the exact minute – allow little pockets of time so you don’t feel rushed if things run late.

Sample Wedding Day Timeline
Every wedding is unique, but here’s a rough guide to get you started:
• 10:00am – 12:30pm Hair & Makeup
• 12:30pm – 1:00pm Bride & Groom getting ready photos
• 1:00pm – 1:30pm Travel to ceremony / first look (if doing one)
• 2:00pm – 2:30pm Ceremony
• 2:30pm – 3:30pm Congratulations, hugs, candid photos
• 3:30pm – 4:30pm Family & bridal party portraits
• 4:30pm – 5:00pm Couple portraits (if not saving for golden hour)
• 5:00pm – 6:00pm Guests enjoy cocktail hour / reception begins
• 5:30pm – 6:30pm Golden hour couple portraits ✨
• 6:30pm – onwards Reception, speeches, first dance & party!
⸻
Tips for a Stress-Free Day
• Share the timeline with your bridal party, family, and vendors.
• Consider a first look if you want a more relaxed day and extra time together before the ceremony.
• Ask your photographer (me 😉) for guidance – I’ll always help structure a timeline that maximises your photography coverage.

Final Thoughts
Your wedding day is about love, laughter, and connection. A timeline isn’t about strict scheduling – it’s about giving yourself the space to breathe, enjoy, and be fully present. With the right planning, you’ll be able to relax and trust that everything is taken care of.
✨ If you’re currently planning your wedding, I’d love to chat about your timeline and photography needs. Let’s create a day that’s seamless, relaxed, and full of magic.
