Planning Your Newborn Session: What to Expect
Bringing a new baby into the world is such a precious time – those tiny fingers, little yawns, and the way they curl up so small don’t last long. A newborn session is the perfect way to freeze those fleeting moments so you can treasure them forever. Here’s everything you need to know about planning your newborn photos.
⸻
When to Book
The best time for newborn photos is usually within the first 5–14 days after birth. Babies are still very sleepy and flexible at this stage, which helps us capture those sweet, curled-up poses.
That said – life with a new baby is unpredictable! If you’ve missed this window, don’t worry. Beautiful images can be created at any age, and older babies give us the bonus of more open eyes and sweet little expressions.

What to Wear
Comfort and simplicity are key.
✨ For baby: I provide wraps, blankets, and little outfits that photograph beautifully. Neutrals, soft pastels, or earthy tones work best. You don’t need to bring much, unless there’s something sentimental you’d love included.
✨ For parents & siblings: Soft, neutral clothing always photographs well and keeps the focus on your connection. Think whites, creams, beige, dusty pinks, or muted tones. Avoid logos or bright, busy patterns. Bare feet work beautifully for relaxed, natural photos.

Location Options
You can choose between a studio session or an in-home lifestyle session.
🏡 In-home: Perfect if you’d like to capture your family in the comfort of your own space. Think cuddles on the bed, rocking baby in the nursery, or siblings doting on their new little brother or sister.
📸 Studio: Ideal for a polished, timeless look. Everything is set up for you – soft lighting, cozy blankets, and a calm space designed to keep baby comfortable.

What to Expect During Your Session
• Sessions are baby-led and unrushed – I allow plenty of time for feeding, cuddling, or settling.
• Expect lots of snuggles and natural moments. My goal is to capture not just how tiny your baby is, but the love and connection your family shares.
• If siblings are involved, we’ll include them early on so they can relax afterwards.
⸻
Final Tips
• Feed baby right before your session if possible – a full belly makes for a sleepy, content little one.
• Don’t stress if things don’t go to plan. Every baby is different, and I’ll work gently with them at their pace.
• Most importantly, enjoy the experience. This is about celebrating the newest little love in your life.
